eShave: UX/UI Case Study
This case study explores the design process behind eShave's mobile app, enhancing e-commerce and user experience through strategic UX/UI improvements.
Brief project description
The project focused on designing a mobile e-commerce application for êShave, enhancing both its digital presence and the user experience. As the sole UX/UI designer, I conducted user research, competitor analysis, and created a high-fidelity prototype over a two-month period. The redesigned app aimed to streamline the shopping experience, including an improved checkout process that notably reduced abandonment rates.
Problem
The primary challenge was to design a mobile e-commerce application that ensured a seamless shopping experience for users. This project sought to integrate online shopping within a mobile framework while enhancing the brand's digital presence, particularly by improving the secure checkout process and addressing user pain points identified through research.
Solution
To approach the project, I initiated a thorough user research process, which involved user interviews and surveys to develop key personas and map the customer journey. This groundwork informed the iterative design phases, leading to the creation of paper prototypes and wireframes, which ultimately resulted in a high-fidelity prototype. Usability studies were conducted to test design decisions, revealing that the introduction of Apple Pay significantly improved the user experience by lowering checkout abandonment from 35% to 5%.
At êShave, there is a strong commitment to offering grooming products that resonate with individual identities while moving beyond conventional norms. This dedication is evident in the thoughtful selection of materials, featuring distinctive scents and ethically sourced, vegan formulas. The brand also emphasizes minimal packaging to reduce environmental impact, ensuring every product is safe, effective, and free from harmful ingredients.
The design challenge centered on creating a mobile e-commerce application that facilitates a seamless shopping experience. The objective was not only to integrate online shopping into a mobile framework but also to refresh êShave's digital presence. This involved redesigning the secure checkout process to enhance overall usability and customer satisfaction.
As the sole UX/UI designer, I undertook a multifaceted approach involving user research, competitor analysis, and prototyping over a two-month period. Through user interviews and surveys, I developed key user personas and mapped the customer journey to identify pain points and requirements. These findings guided iterative design phases, leading to the development of paper prototypes and wireframes, and culminating in a high-fidelity prototype.
Conducting usability studies proved essential in understanding user preferences and behavior. The implementation of Apple Pay was particularly impactful, reducing checkout abandonment from 35% to 5%, underscoring the importance of enhanced payment options and a streamlined user interface. Looking ahead, the next steps include introducing Google Wallet and further redesigning the website to align with the updated app, reflecting êShave's ongoing commitment to innovation and a user-focused experience.
