eShave: UX/UI Case Study
A detailed exploration of the design process behind eShave's mobile app and its impact on the user experience.
At êShave, the focus lies in providing grooming products tailored for individual identities, moving past traditional norms. The commitment to quality is evident in the materials used, from distinctive scents to the ethical vegan formulas that characterize the product line. Emphasizing minimal packaging, êShave aims to lessen its environmental footprint while ensuring that every product is safe and effective, free from harmful ingredients.
The challenge presented was to create an e-commerce mobile app that delivers a seamless shopping experience for users. The project aimed to integrate online shopping into a mobile context while modernizing the brand’s digital presence. The goal was not only to facilitate the purchase of grooming products but also to redesign the secure checkout process to enhance usability.
As the sole UX/UI designer, I undertook various responsibilities including user research, competitor analysis, and prototyping. This two-month project involved synthesizing research findings to create a structured framework. Through user interviews and surveys, I established key user personas and mapped out the customer journey, identifying pain points and requirements. The insights gained drove iterative design phases, including paper prototypes and wireframes, ultimately leading to the development of a high-fidelity prototype.
Usability studies revealed significant insights into user preferences and behaviors. Notably, the introduction of Apple Pay resulted in a substantial drop in checkout abandonment from 35% to 5%. This finding underscored the importance of enhancing payment options and streamlining the user interface. Future steps will involve implementing Google Wallet and further redesigning the website to align with the updated app experience, reinforcing êShave's commitment to innovation and user-centric design.
